BUSINESS INTERRUPTION COVERAGE FOR FOOD BORNE ILLNESS OUTBREAKS:

Restaurants face unique exposures when it comes to food borne illness, accidental & malicious contamination and products extortion.  Regardless of how these incidents happen, the financial impact can be devastating.  The Trade Name Restoration (TNR) product provides coverage for loss of business income resulting from a food borne illness outbreaks.

  • Trade Name Trigger –business income lost due to the publicity of an actual or alleged outbreak involving the same trade name even if the outbreak did not occur at insured’s location
  • Supplier Caused Outbreaks – business income lost due to a supplier incident/outbreak

  • Business Interruption – loss of business income due to an outbreak/incident
  • Product Recall – additional expense for disposal, removal and replacement of contaminated food products
  • Automatic addition of new locations for same trade name at no additional charge within the policy period
  • Full policy limits for additional advertising expenses including television/radio, coupons and/or community campaigns
  • Additional expense for restaurant cleaning
  • Additional expense for temporary staff as needed
  • Additional expense for overtime of regular staff as needed
  • 18-month period of restoration/rehabilitation provided

  • Claims personnel that are Hazard Analysis and Critical Control Point (HACCP) certified and experienced in adjusting revenue-based losses

  • Workplace Violence Coverage – an act of violence at a restaurant results in lost business income
